Product Information
The Universal Audio Volt 4P Max is a flagship 12-in / 6-out desktop USB audio interface designed for bands, drummers, producers, engineers, podcasters, and content creators who need expanded recording capability with professional studio sound. Featuring four Tone Shaping Preamps, Max compression, 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion, speaker switching, a built-in talkback microphone, full-colour Smart Display, Auto-Gain, Clip Protection, ADAT expansion, MIDI I/O, and a comprehensive UAD software bundle, Volt 4P Max is built to handle larger recording sessions with ease.
Built by the same Universal Audio team behind the legendary Apollo interfaces, Volt 4P Max features four digitally controlled mic preamps with 60 dB of available gain and three harmonic character modes — Warmth, Focus, and Shine. These provide Tube, Solid State, and British Class-A-inspired tonal options, allowing you to add rich analog-style character to vocals, guitars, drums, and other instruments directly at the source.
Max Processing adds onboard real-time compression with six musical presets designed for vocals, guitars, bass, and other sources. Inspired by classic studio compressors including the LA-2A and 1176, Max Processing can be combined with the three Tone Shaping modes to provide more than 18 tonal combinations directly from the interface.
Four mic / line inputs allow up to four sources to be recorded at once, making Volt 4P Max ideal for recording bands, drum setups, multiple vocalists, and larger sessions. Two front-panel Hi-Z instrument inputs provide convenient direct connection for guitars and basses, while independent 48V phantom power is available on each microphone channel for condenser microphones.
For larger studio systems, Volt 4P Max includes ADAT or S/PDIF optical input, allowing up to eight additional digital channels at 44.1 or 48 kHz. MIDI In and Out provides connectivity for keyboards, synthesisers, drum machines, and controllers, while the onboard USB hub can connect and power compatible peripherals.
The full-colour Smart Display provides detailed visual feedback for inputs, recording levels, settings, and gain reduction. Auto-Gain automatically sets suitable recording levels in seconds, while Clip Protection catches unexpected peaks to help keep your recordings clean and distortion-free.
Two stereo monitor outputs provide Main and Alt speaker switching, making it easy to compare mixes across two sets of studio monitors. Two studio-quality headphone outputs support monitoring and collaboration, while the built-in talkback microphone provides convenient communication with performers during recording sessions.
Built-in Loopback makes Volt 4P Max ideal for multi-guest podcasts, livestreams, video calls, and content creation by allowing live sources to be combined with computer audio. Full integration with the UAD Console app and LUNA provides session recall and low-latency cue mixes for a streamlined professional workflow.
Volt 4P Max also includes the UAD Volt Studio Bundle and a comprehensive collection of third-party software, providing professional EQs, compressors, reverbs, guitar and bass amps, instruments, and production tools right out of the box.
